Artist Statement:

My ceramics are generally high-fired stoneware and porcelain. I throw and then manipulate the form by hand to reveal a unique quality. I am very interested in glazing and have been experimenting with microcrystalline iron glazes, yielding red oil spots, as shown in the photo, and the traditional black oil spot. These glazes are reminiscent of lava flows, burning embers and night skies. I seek out ecological themes for my work, the latest being “Burning Embers”, highlighting the increased danger of bushfires due to climate change.
