The home of handmade Australian ceramics & bespoke flowers

Therese McMahon

Therese is a ceramic artist who has been experimenting, making and exhibiting for over 30 years. Born in the beautiful coastal city of Wollongong, school holidays were spent with family in their holiday house at Jervis Bay on the South Coast. There she was immersed in coastal life – fishing, prawning, surfing, sailing
and beachcombing. The ocean and coastal environments are strong recurring themes in Therese's work.
It was a natural progression to study Art after year 12. Therese completed her studies majoring in Ceramics and then gained work at pottery studios in Terrey Hills, Sydney before setting up her first studio in Dee Why, Sydney in
1983.
Currently Therese has her studio in Sanctuary Point near Jervis Bay. She is part of the renowned “SeeChange” festival, a regular exhibitor in the Scarborough Art Show and sells her work at Canberra Handmade. Last year she exhibited in a group show at Gallery One88 in Katoomba, NSW.
“My practice is my haven and meditative place. Without it I am lost.“
