Collection: Yamaneco Pottery

Keiko Sato is a Sydney-based ceramic artist working under the brand name Yamaneco Pottery. Originally from Japan, she was drawn to ceramics through a fascination with creating handmade objects that become part of everyday life. She developed her foundational ceramic skills in Mashiko, one of Japan’s most renowned pottery regions, where she was immersed in the traditions and philosophy of Japanese craftsmanship.

Rooted in sustainability and mindful making, Keiko creates each piece by hand using a small-batch production process that minimises waste and embraces the thoughtful use of materials. Her work reflects the Japanese appreciation for simplicity, lightness, and imperfection, resulting in tactile, timeless ceramics designed to be both beautiful and functional.

Drawing on traditional Japanese pottery techniques, Keiko explores sculptural forms and distinctive surface textures that bring depth and harmony to her work. She is particularly interested in applying skills traditionally used in vessel-making to create contemporary ceramic artworks, continually exploring new possibilities for expression and dialogue through clay.
