Kristina Cooke
Kristina brings all the refined design aesthetic gained through her background in Product Design to the medium of ceramics. After obtaining her Bachelor of Design from the University of Technology, Sydney, Kristina pursued a corporate career in commercial kitchen design and exhibition displays. Her desire to incorporate a more grounded approach to life, and work on less transient projects, led to further studies and the completion of a Masters in Environmental Studies from Macquarie University.
Moving to the Mid North Coast of NSW allowed her to get back to being an artist-maker and combine her interests in science, nature and design. Initially working in larger scale outdoor sculptures, she has now transitioned to working predominantly in ceramics after completing her Diploma of Ceramics in 2019.
Kristina is an emerging ceramic artist in Australia, currently experimenting in surface treatments using reactive glazes, slips and oxides, this is especially evidenced in her new work emerging from her residency in Gibraltar Ranges National Park. A new direction from previous vessel forms.
